Germany’s Chancellor Merkel Visits Opel at Frankfurt Motor Show

Frankfurt: Angela Merkel got behind the Astra steering wheel as Opel Supervisory Board Chair Carl-Peter Forster presented her the new Opel compact. Forster used the opportunity to once again thank all public officials for their support and trust.

Angela Merkel replied, "We have done everything we could in order to have Opel a fair chance, nothing more and nothing less. I am certain that you and the employees will use it." The chancellor added that the remaining open points will be solved in 'European fairness.'
